VOLUNTEER
Currently, volunteers are needed to help man the Mt Baldy Visitors Center. The Mt Baldy Visitors Center provides nature programs for young people, maps and information, and sells adventure passes. In recent times of budget cuts the hours of the visitors center have been cut, but if there were more volunteers, program director Steve Segreto would be able to expand the hours of operation.
The visitors center plays an important role in informing the public about trail conditions and adequate preparation for a hike into the surrounding wilderness. Sometimes people planning a day hike arrive at the visitors center on a sunny day dressed in t-shirt, shorts and flip flops. They are unaware of how fast the canyon areas get dark in the evening, how cold the nights are, or how fast the weather can change. The visitor center staff is the first line of defense to avert possible rescue situations. If you might be interested in volunteering you can stop by the visitor center, or phone Steve Segreto at 909 982-2879.

OFFER YOUR EXPERTISE
Keep Baldy Wild has various areas of need. We could use the expertise of a biologist, especially one capable of conducting biological studies, a computer wizard to occasionally help with web site issues, and knowledgeable volunteers to support the revival of the Forest Service greenhouse and man the Forest Service Visitor’s Center, helping to expand their hours of operation.
